After living in Canberra, I have been living a new sea change lifestyle since 2016 on the Australian South Coast of NSW, Congo Beach.
My career has been an epic journey of learning and exploring visual communication in various mediums for personal expression, scientific research publications, and commercial business clients.
While my main interests have been in conceptual illustration photography, I have explored other visual mediums such as drawing, painting, graphic design, printmaking, video, audiovisual, digital Multi-media and website design.
My photography and technical illustration career started in 1981 at the Australian National University, working within a scientific area till the end of 1999, which led me to be in business providing media services to small businesses with multi-media including graphic design, photography and website design.
I have been providing commercial photography services since 1992 under the business name Innervisions, which is now used for website design services. The Innervisions photography services included conceptual—corporate, environmental portraits, commercial objectives for business, virtual reality projects, and educational and documentary projects.
While working at the ANU, I completed an Advanced Diploma of Photography at the Canberra Institute of Technology 1986 – 1991, then back in 1997 to learn digital Photoshop skills PS Version 2 :-).
I was passionate about creating conceptual surrealistic images using traditional techniques, such as studio lighting, large format cameras, and darkroom skills. An article in the Australian Photography Magazine (Sept 1991) titled “On The Learning Curve” The article pages scanned the pages for sharing here: =>>
I needed to learn Photoshop skills to help a programmer produce an Interactive CD ROM for three Aboriginal communities in the remote Kimberly region. The CD ROM would help maintain and save their languages for future generations by engaging kids learning in school with modern digital media.
During that period, I also became an awarded member (AAIPP) of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) in 1991. I continued to be involved until 2006 when my objectives and interests grew from providing commercial photography services to more of a freelance consulting role for helping small business owners. Many of the images produced for the AIPP Awards can be seen on this website. A few published photos were taken while working at the ANU.
This website will share a retrospective of past folios, interests, and a few new digital images. I aim to renew my old passion and interest in taking photos, but just for fun in the digital world. My secondary aim will be to share a new journey of learning the digital way of creating creative digital imagery.
In the meantime, I still provide website services for small business owners who are frustrated and who need personalised assistance with their online objectives. I have also been open to the occasional design project that presents an exciting challenge, such as a recent project in 2016 for Steve Grieve and The Mourners – CD Design for Caterpillar Maze.
